Terms of Service

1. The Service

Chess Temple is a chess analytics platform that imports your Chess.com games, analyzes them using the Stockfish chess engine, and provides personalized training reports, puzzles, scouting reports, Temple Cards, and performance statistics.

2. Accounts

To use the Service, you must create an account with a valid email address. You are responsible for:

• Providing accurate account information.
• Maintaining the security of your password.
• All activity that occurs under your account.

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are between 13 and 16, you must have your parent or guardian's consent.

3. Free and Premium Plans

Chess Temple offers a free tier and a paid Premium subscription:

• Free: 1 training report per month (with limited puzzle access), 1 scouting report, Temple Cards, and basic stats.
• Premium ($4.99/month or $39.99/year): unlimited training reports, all expansion packs, unlimited puzzles, unlimited scouting reports, and full stats including Opening Score and Missed Tactics breakdown.

We reserve the right to modify pricing, features, or plan limits with reasonable notice. Existing subscribers will be notified of any changes before their next billing cycle.

4. Payments and Billing

Premium subscriptions are billed through Stripe on a recurring basis (monthly or yearly). By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method at the start of each billing period.

• Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.
• You may cancel at any time through your account page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
• No refunds are provided for partial billing periods. If you cancel mid-cycle, you retain Premium access until the end of your paid period.
• We do not store your credit card details. All payment processing is handled by Stripe.

5. Chess.com Data

The Service imports your publicly available Chess.com game data at your request. We are not affiliated with Chess.com. You are responsible for ensuring that your Chess.com data is available for import. We rely on the Chess.com public API and cannot guarantee its availability.

Game data you import is stored in our database and analyzed by Stockfish to generate insights. You can request deletion of your data at any time.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
• Import games or data belonging to other users without their consent.
• Attempt to access other users' accounts or data.
• Reverse engineer, scrape, or abuse the Service or its APIs.
• Use automated systems to access the Service in a manner that exceeds reasonable usage.
• Resell or redistribute data or analysis obtained from the Service.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

7. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, Temple Card designs, and analysis algorithms, is owned by Friberger Consulting AB. You retain ownership of your chess games. By using the Service, you grant us a license to process and analyze your game data solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that analysis results will be perfectly accurate. Chess analysis is performed by Stockfish at a fixed depth and may differ from deeper analysis.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Friberger Consulting AB shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at hello@chesstemple.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days. Active Premium subscriptions will be cancelled upon account deletion.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Sweden.
